When immigrants are added into nations too fast, integration fails. People tend to stick around with what they know. They create communes or ghettos, communicate in their own language and shun the policies and culture that gave them a second chance in life. If instead immigrants are slowly integrated by placing strict criteria for admission (see Japan 20 years ago) then the immigrant is forced to integrate or go back to where they came from. Language becomes a vital necessity, culture and manners the same. In most cases they even have to try harder since they need to prove themselves to the locals.
And why you might say they have to “prove” anything? Well, the interesting thing about immigration is that an immigrant leaves their country because their country failed them one way or another. They might have lost a war to a greater power, they might have destroyed their economy due to the politicians they elected. It doesn’t matter. What matters is they have to accept their loss, assume the responsibility and seek a life elsewhere. This means forgetting you culture, traditions, language. Everything. You accept the loss. If you haven’t you would stay back home, shed blood and tears and try to rebuild it. Not with foreign aid, not with loans but with your own sweat and blood. You are not willing to do it? Fine. But you need to understand that you are not allow to have your original national pride in the new nation that hosts you. It is hypocritical and subversive to your hosts. Any logical and reasonable nation would have you hanged for treason. Same applies for your religion. If your values where so strong to begin with, if they gave you so much meaning in life, you would have stayed in your own country.
Most people will see this rational as too extreme but it is the only intellectually honest stance an honorably rational man should take. The reason integration fails with most immigrants is because they are as opportunistic and leechy as they were back home. They vast majority brings the same attitudes to the new host nation, and spoil the perception for the few worthy immigrants that integrate and become not only valuable but indispensable nationals for their new nation.
Much like the egg-lemon soup, slow and strict control of the immigration flow is essential for any nation to enrich itself properly both genetically and culturally. Any immigrant has to keep in mind that the new nation is made up of people who shed blood and tears to allow a better future for their children and grandchildren. You are a second class citizen. Perhaps your own children and grandchildren will one day be on the same class, but you have not earned it yet. This is the brutal reality of life as it is even reflected in the process of evolution. Small, incremental changes over a long period of time. Adding anything too fast, causes ecosystems to fail.
